Built in 1976, our host site consists of three apartment buildings within a predominantly residential area, composed of public housing, apartment buildings and multi-family houses.
Bounded by a busy commuter rail line on one side, the site slopes steeply from east to west. The buildings sit on an elevated plinth, which creates a lower floor three feet below grade.
Each building contains a typical three story floor plan with two unconnected stairs, on three separate parcels of land. The parcels of land differ in their floor area ratio; parcel one and two are maximized, while parcel three is below fifty percent.
The buildings face north west with a rear yard that receives ample afternoon sun. It is within walking distance of a bus stop. Minor services such as a mini-market and daycare are located within a half a mile. A community garden down the street is a hopeful sign for collaboration within the neighborhood.
